NEW BUSINESS APPLICATION SUBMISSION BY FAX

You now have the option of submitting  new business applications to NYPIUA  via fax  24-hours a day, seven days a week. With NYPIUA's new APPLICATION SUBMISSION BY FAX procedure, properties meeting NYPIUA's eligibility criteria can receive "next day binding." Additional benefits are no mailing costs or  the possibility of applications being delayed or "lost in the mail."

Just follow these three simple steps:

Step 1. Call (212) 208-9703. Use option 4 to make an electronic
deposit using a checking account. Have the account
information (bank routing number and account number as
found on the check), a pen, and the application readily
available. Follow the prompts. On completion, you will be 
given an application number and a deposit confirmation number.

Step 2.  Write both of those numbers CLEARLY in the upper left
hand section of the application.

Step 3. Fax the completed application to (212) 208-9808.
REMEMBER, keep the original application for future
reference. This telephone number is to be used for
 faxed applications and their accompanying forms and correspondence. Use of this number for any other purpose
will delay document processing.

Did you know that you can change mortgagee names, contact name and telephone number, insured's mailing address; increase coverage amounts; add cause of loss; and add coverage on the internet? Just click the "Auto Submissions"  icon on our  home page and follow the online prompts.

You can also confirm payments or view your insured's policy. The Payment Inquiry System allows you to view payments received during the past 60 days. All you need is the 10-digit policy number. To View a Policy, you will need your NYPIUA Internet Access Id. If you don't have an ID number, click the "View Policy" icon from the home page, and follow the instruction to submit your request on line.

You will soon be able to submit new business applications, make payments, and submit all endorsement and cancellation requests through the NYPIUA website. Look for details in future editions of Producer News.

     NOW AVAILABLE:
       ORDINANCE OR LAW 

NYPIUA has received approval from the State of New York Insurance Department to make coverage for ordinance or law available to dwelling policyholders. The ordinance or law exclusion of  ISO form DP 00 01 disallows payment (after a covered loss) for extra costs to repair or rebuild when new codes require building upgrades.

This endorsement does not increase the policy, but permits up to 10% of the policy limit to be used for extra construction costs due to code requirements. The premium charged for the  endorsement is 10% of the building premium.

Use our "Request for Change" form (UA-34) to add this endorsement to   existing policies. For new business, mark "Ordinance or Law" in the "other" area in the coverage section of the application. 

SPEED UP PROCESSING
WITH THESE OTHER NYPIUA INNOVATIONS

Make Balance Due Payments by Phone. Call (212) 208-9703, use option 1.  Listen to our introductory message and follow the prompts. You will be asked to enter the 10-digit policy number, to choose a payment option (installment or payment in full), and, finally  to provide the encoded bank information found on the bottom of your check. Your checking account will be debited for the amount of the full or installment payment.

Two Tier Anti-Arson Submission. This system was designed for those who are required to submit an anti-arson application annually. If valuation is the same as the prior year,  and the answers to questions 1 through 12 of  the underwriting section are "no," you can use this service. Call us at (212) 208-9703, use option 3. Listen to the introductory message and follow the prompts. 

AUTOMATIC INCREASE

The Automatic Increase Endorsement is not something new at NYPIUA, but many producers may not be aware that it is available to their policyholders. You can increase coverage by an annual percentage at any time during the year using the "Request for Change" form, and mailing it to NYPIUA, 100 William Street, New York, NY 10038. Indicate whether you would like to increase by 2, 4, 6, or 8% (If an amount greater than 8% is desired, it must be indicated in 2% increments only.) The form must be received 90 days before the policy expiration for the endorsement to be included with the renewal. Automatic Increase Endorsements apply only to occupied dwellings.
