PRODUCER EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM
The events of September 11 caused NYPIUA to reflect on its methods for
contacting producers in the event of an emergency.
If you would like to be added to our producer emergency list for important news
in the event of a crisis, please e-mail us at: Fairplan@nypiua.com. Include the
company name, contact name, contact address, telephone number, fax number, and
e-mail address.
CHANGE IN LIMITS
FOR DWELLINGS APPROVED
The State of New York Insurance Department approved NYPIUA's
filing to modify the schedule of limits delineated in the Plan of
Operation.
Since last amended, the amount of dwelling coverage available upon
application has been $300,000. After loss control inspection and the
elimination of any hazards, the amount available could be increased to
$500,000.
Requests for coverage above that amount up to the statutory limit of
$1,500,000 were subject to approval by NYPIUA's Underwriting Committee.
Requests for coverage for household and personal property were limited to
$100,000.
Effective January 1, 2003 requests for dwelling coverage up to $500,000
will be processed for insurable property without the need to wait for the
completion of an inspection. Coverage for household and personal property
can be written up to a limit of $250,000.
Remember, combined amounts of coverage for rental value and for
building cannot exceed the new limit of $500,000. Combined coverage for
Additional Living Expense along with coverage for household and personal
property cannot exceed $250,000. Coverage limits for insurable vacant
dwellings not under renovation or construction will remain at $50,000.
Requests for coverage above $500,000 continue to be subject to approval
by the Underwriting Committee.

NYPIUA INNOVATIONS
Balance Due Payments by Phone. To pay your balance by phone
using a touch-tone phone, call (212) 208-9703. Use
option 1. For best results, do not use a cordless phone. You will be asked to enter the 10-digit policy
number (disregard the two-digit suffix at the end after the dash). Choose a payment option (installment or payment in
full). You will then be asked for the bank routing number and
account information found on the
bottom left side of your check. The routing number is nine digits long and must
begin with 01 through 12, or 21 through 32. The second set of numbers is
the account number. The bank number and account number may be reversed on commercial checks. Disregard the
check number which may appear before the routing number or after the
account number. Your checking account will be debited for the amount of
the payment option selected.
Two Tier Anti-Arson Submission. This system was designed for those who are required to submit an
anti-arson application annually. If valuation is the same as the prior
year, and the answers to questions 1 through 12 of the underwriting section are
"no", you can use this service. Call us at (212)
208-9703. Use option 3. Listen to the introductory
message and follow the prompts.
