Fire Safety Video - "Don't Play Games With Fanny Flame"
For many years, fire safety experts have sponsored national ad campaigns to teach
children not to play with matches or lighters. However, the fact remains that, as a result
of playing with fire, each year an alarming number of children are seriously injured.
Most children, at one time or another, are curious about fire. Some simply watch it,
while others go further and will actually set a fire. Children don't perceive as
threatening the tiny, attractive flames from matches, lighters or candles; they don't
realize that a spark can quickly grow into a roaring fire. Although curiosity about fire
is common, this interest must be carefully guided in order to prevent a tragedy.
It's never too early to educate children to the dangers of fire play. Teachers and
parents spend a lot of time instructing children about many important safety lessons ----
look both ways before crossing the street, don't talk to strangers, etc. But, one
important lesson often forgotten is the lesson of fire safety.
In continuing its outreach efforts in fire prevention, the New York Property Insurance
Underwriting Association (NYPIUA) has sponsored the production and free distribution of a
fire safety video entitled, "Don't Play Games With Fanny Flame" to schools
throughout New York State. This 16 minute video provides for you an opportunity to share
with children important messages about fire safety.
